Driving Lessons in Haslingden

Haslingden gives you the full spread: a town centre to drive through, residential streets to learn in, and routes that connect to the A56 and the M66. For a learner, that range is worth a lot. You can start where it is calm and work up, lesson by lesson, to the faster and busier roads that take you out of the valley.

Daniel Keenan teaches across Haslingden as part of Keen On Driving, his driving school for the Rossendale Valley. He is a fully qualified Approved Driving Instructor - a qualification only around 35% of people who train for it pass nationally. Every lesson is two hours, one-to-one and in a manual car.

What lessons here cover

Early on, the residential streets around Haslingden are where the fundamentals get built: moving off and stopping, clutch control, junctions, observation. The town centre adds pedestrians, queues and decisions that come quickly. Once those foundations are solid, lessons use the routes connecting Haslingden to the A56 and M66, where speeds are higher and the driving is more continuous.

Building up at your pace

Nobody is put on a fast road before their basics will hold up there. Daniel has taught the whole range of pupils - confident, nervous, and those with anxiety, ADHD or autism - and each lesson is tailored to the individual. The A56 and M66 routes are part of the plan, but they arrive when you are ready for them and not before.

Taking your test

When the time comes, practical tests are generally taken at Nelson Driving Test Centre, with Daniel available between 10am and 1:30pm from Monday to Friday. Other arrangements can sometimes be made, but any exception - a different centre or a different time - needs to be discussed with him first. Never book a test without his agreement that you are ready.

Prices

Starter lessons are £70 for two hours. After that, a standard two-hour lesson costs £80, and block bookings run from £38 per hour for 10 hours down to £35 for 40. The full table is on the prices page.

If Haslingden is not your nearest town, Daniel also teaches in Rawtenstall, Crawshawbooth, Waterfoot and Helmshore.
