Driving Lessons in Waterfoot

Waterfoot sits in the upper half of the Rossendale Valley, and learning to drive here means learning on the roads that carry on up the valley towards Bacup and Rochdale. It is real road experience: longer runs, honest traffic, and the smaller places in between, like Lumb and Water.

Keen On Driving is Daniel Keenan's driving school, based in the valley and covering the BB4 postcodes. Lessons in Waterfoot are two hours long, one-to-one, and always in a manual car.

What a lesson around Waterfoot involves

Early lessons can stay close to home, getting used to the car and building the basics on quieter local roads. As you progress, the routes towards Bacup and Rochdale come into play, along with the roads out to Lumb and Water. That mix is deliberate: you need calm stretches to practise new skills, and busier sections to learn how to use them when there is traffic around.

Covering the whole BB4 area

Waterfoot and its neighbouring villages sit inside the BB4 postcode area, which Daniel covers in full. If you live just outside the places named on this page, ask anyway - the valley is not big, and we would rather say yes than leave you guessing.

Taking your test

Your practical test will usually happen at Nelson Driving Test Centre. Daniel is generally available for tests between 10am and 1:30pm, Monday to Friday; if you need something outside those times, or a different centre altogether, that can be discussed with him. Tests are only booked once Daniel agrees you are ready for one.

What it costs

A two-hour starter lesson is £70, and standard two-hour lessons are £80. If you would rather commit to a block, 10 to 40 hours brings the hourly rate down to as little as £35. The prices page has the full breakdown.

Daniel teaches throughout the valley, so you can also read about lessons in Rawtenstall, Crawshawbooth, Haslingden and Helmshore.
